From PROBLEMS AND MIRACLES by Ryan Davis:
A M
O M E N T W I T H T H E O
H I O
I woke up this afternoon,
arose from my floor
like the first page of a pop-up book,
walked myself downstairs,
directly outside,
right into the pouring rain,
and just stood there
in nothing but my underwear
for five minutes,
a flower in a humid season/
human state of mind,
pacing greenish grasses with hazel eyes,
sailing the river
with the turn of a cheek
(that I, somehow,
last night,
managed to burn on the bulb
of a chandelier),
lightly contemplating life at sea.
I thought of how badly
this town needed a shower
after all its running through my veins.
it was starting to reek of familiarity.
and in that wet and increasingly soaking moment,
as I fought like an action figure
in my six-year-old hands
to keep the urine inside of my body,
I could not decide, for the life of me,
whether to write a film
or pack my bags.
